This paper focuses on the adoption of the Balanced Scorecard model [1] for strategic management by a Portuguese insurance company and presents the Decision Support System (DSS) that has been conceived and developed to embody this adoption. A special emphasis is given to the definition of a strategy, the selection of the strategic measures to analyse and monitor and to the selection of initiatives taken to operationalize the identified strategy. The DSS was designed in close interaction with senior executives and was conceived aiming at enabling the company to more effectively analyse and control indicators relevant for its strategic decisions. The achievements resulting from the implementation of the system are presented and reveal that the BSC integrated with a DSS can be an effective strategic management tool for an SME.

MSc thesis: Pedagogical Intervention in Dynamic Web Pages
The report describes my teaching intervention which took place at the Gago Coutinho High School, Alverca, in module "Dynamic web pages" of "Communication Networks" of the 2nd grade of the Management Technician and Computer Systems Developer Professional Course. The class had 14 students with an average age of 16 years.
The key theme was Data Structure Types (arrays) and Decision Structures, in PHP language. This contents were complemented with two more themes of this module: “Development in scripting languages” and “Basic techniques for writing dynamic pages”.
To put in practice the teaching of those contents I used Project Based Learning methodology. The Project aimed to develop a food or smartphones choice recommendation system. Pair Programming was used as development methodology, which each student assuming alternatively the coder and navigator role.
The summative assessment was shared between teacher and students in even parts.
This report includes a research component focused in the Pair Programming aiming to identify relationships between the two pair student’s roles and the understanding how they develop dynamic web pages.
The results suggest that, beyond the satisfaction and reinforcement of trust in the work, the pair programming strategy allows the second best pupil of the pair to get a better performance while for the best pupil in the pair there is not evidence of increase in performance.
